Membership
The Thrive Trustee Network is supported by VANEL and the Hub initiative and is occassionally lucky enough to draw in funding to support certain activities (thanks to our current sponsors). So although we keep this website, our resources and many of our meetings freely available to all, we also operate as a membership network in order to best serve local charities and keep the Network sustainable.
There are three membership options:
associate membership
is free to anyone. An individual is an associate and has their own login account on this website. An organisation or charity can join up any number of trustees, staff or board members as associates. Individuals from the public or private sector with an interest in trusteeship and governance can join as associates.
organisational membership
£100 joining fee per organisation + £25 yearly recurring membership fee.
Membership is open to any charity or voluntary or community organisation with charitable objectives and a committee or governing structure.
Organisational membership gives membership to any of your trustees or board members for the duration of the membership.
Bursarys are possible to reduce the joining fee for voluntary or community organisations which are not registered charities, have very small income or other limited means. Please get in touch to enquire.
individual membership
£25 one-off lifetime fee. An individual connected with serveral organisations (or with none) could opt to take up indivdual membership.
What do you get?
Access to this website, its articles and resources is free for all.
Members (of any level) are registered on this website and have the ability therefore to comment on articles. We also include members in all our mailings so as to keep you informed of new training, news, opportunities or other developments. Why not ensure all your trustees are at least an associate member so as to keep up to date on latest governance issues.
Networking meetings (usually bi-monthly) are open to everyone and free to attend.
Training organised through the Network on Trustee/governance related topics is usually offered at a 50% discount to organisational or individual members (subject to terms and conditions).
Additional Full Member benefits
Full members – organisational or individual – have access to a wide range of other opportunities too:
free CD of resources
discounts on books and other occassional resources (e.g. Trustee Guide at up to 75% off)
opportunity to promote your organisation and its board/committee opportunities on this website – open up your board vacancies to potential trustees
50% discount on access to VANEL training room & IT training suite
other resources made readily available to your organisation and trustees
Two other key benefits are available to full members:
Board suport: your organisation can take advantage of up to 6 hours ‘critical friend’ support for your board. This may be in the form of a review, in the form of support during board meetings, in tackling a specific board development issue (for example, putting a strategy together, or generating recruitment materials or a code of conduct) or in general coaching or development support.
Trustee micro-site: each organisation can have a micro-website developed for your organisation through which your board members can keep up to date with materials, boards papers, policy documents, news etc. This is a new development available from January 2011 so please contact us if you would like more information.
