Feedback from the NCVO Trustees Conference
The NCVO Annual Trustee Conference took place in London on Mon 18th October 2010 in the run up to National Trustees’ Week.
450 people attended for a range of presentations, workshops, information sharing and networking. The key themes of the day formed part of our feedback at our own recent “Join Us and Make a Difference” event in Grimsby on Mond 25th.
Lots of information from the National Conference is now available on their website here.
Included are each of the keynote speeches, all the workshop presentations and a few images.
25-31 Oct is National Trustees’ Week
We’re in National Trustee’s Week (www.trusteesweek.org.uk). Running from 25-31 October 2010 this is the first national celebration of trusteeship.
VANEL got involved on Mon 25th with our “Join Us and Make a Difference” event (website here), and this week we’re cascading some information sharing about the latest trusteeship thinking and resources. Keep watching this space.
In the meantime, visit the Trustees’s Week website for lots of interesting case studies and information.

Trustee Week 2010 : Trustee Recruitment Event
25th – 31st October 2010 will be the first national Trustee Week, led by the Charity Commission and other national partners. VANEL, the Third Sector Hub and the Thrive Trustee Network will be starting the week off by holding an event – “Join us and make a difference : Trustee recruitment event” on Monday 25th October, between 2pm and 7pm in Grimsby at Grimsby Neighbourhood Centre.
[update : new website for the Trustees Week at www.trusteesweek.org.uk ]
This is a chance for anyone thinking of volunteering as a Trustee to find out more and to meet local third sector organisations wanting to recruit trustees or committee members. For local organisations it is an opportunity to promote themselves to new potential board members.
The event will take the format of a focused recruitment fair, but with talks and presentations throughout the event from organisations and experienced trustees explaining the value of trusteeship. The event will replace the October meeting of the Thrive Trustee Network and many of our local trustees will be helping with the event.
More information coming soon (see www.thrivetrustees.org.uk for more) or contact Karl Elliott at VANEL for information or to get involved.
